one of my favorite quotes from
stcolapop.
but for once, it actually looks like its really is going to be shaping up to be the summer quite interesting.
ive been a bit hush hush about it for various reasons, but since i start today i might as well tell the interweb that i got a new job as the photo editor at Metromix. im not exactly sure how i fell into it but it truly is one of the more exciting turns of events that has happened in my life. we'll see how it pans out, im not trying to put all my eggs into one basket but it really does seem promising.
unfortunately, this also means that my time at KCET is now over. KCET has to be the best working environment i have ever had the pleasure of working in, hands down. ive learned a lot, and i think im fully prepared to work in any post environment if this metromix thing doesnt pan out.
i think now ill have a bit more regular hours, or at least, time to lj. my life in the last 9 months have been really hectic, swinging a day job and shooting events/restaurant/bars/etc at night. sometimes i wouldnt even see
gatsby11rel for days at a time! anyhoo, heres to hoping for a bit more free time...
oh, my car got broken into a month or so ago. my ipod was sitting out, yeah i know, im a idiot. lesson learned.
ive also amassed so many parking tickets that it should be able to fund the subway to the sea. its like all the parking tickets i shoulve received in my lifetime of not driving is piled up at once. fun!
i gave up the studio this month too, since ill have my own workspace at the la times building. sad to see it go, but it served its purpose. aka, kicking my ass in gear to do what i really want to do.
im working on a pizza article for metromix right now, specifically pizza on the east side. its an old vs new slant, with the contenders being nick d's/hard times vs andiamo/tomato pie. im excited to unveil the results, but its just not coming together as nice as i would like. keep your eyes peeled for it anyhoo. (tho i must admit that bollini's still takes top billing in my book.) it doesnt help that i havent really written a single word in MONTHS. as this journal entry can plainly illustrate, my writing skills have fallen to the level of a moderately stimulated 5th grader.
oh shit, im at the office now. ciao.
